Michiels was een pionier voor de Nederlandstalige hulpverlening in de hoofdstad (en de regio Brussel-Halle-Vilvoorde). Hij stond mee aan de wieg van onder meer ’t Pasrel (een onthaalcentrum voor jongeren en gezinnen in moeilijkheden), en van een resem organisaties (onder andere De Pit, De Sloep, De Pont) die werden ondergebracht bij Tonuso, waar hij tot zijn laatste levensdag werkte. Tonuso (Esperanto voor ‘veerkracht’) is actief binnen de bijzondere jeugdzorg en biedt jongeren en gezinnen een waaier van ondersteunings- en opvangmogelijkheden, inclusief therapie en training. Michiels was als psycholoog een voorvechter, zette mee de lijnen uit, stond in voor de kwaliteitscontrole, intervisie en teambegeleiding van vele centra.

Geboren en getogen in Etterbeek was Kris Michiels daar al op jonge leeftijd actief, onder meer als groepsleider bij de scouts en het Jeugdhuis Tram 81. Het Kasjot zou later tot wijkhuis Chambéry uitgroeien. Ook het zieltogende ANBJ (dat later Jeugd en Stad werd, nu JES) blies hij mee nieuw leven in. Maar zijn roeping was het jongerenwelzijnswerk. Zo hielp hij ook Tilt (het eerste Brusselse JAC) uit de grond te stampen.

Michiels schuwde geen heilige huisjes, was eigenzinnig, maar bovenal bekwaam en begeesterend. Hij kende het veld beter dan menige beleidsvormer, en zijn koppigheid drukte een stempel op het Brusselse welzijnswerk. Daarnaast had Michiels ook een (deeltijdse) privé-praktijk als therapeut, was hij een toegewijde huisvader, selfmade klusjesman en Brussel-minnende fietskamikaze.
Michiels werd 51 jaar. Zowat vijfhonderd mensen namen definitief afscheid van hem in het VCA in Anderlecht.

Burial will follow in St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery in Earlville. That’s been a mantra for James "Jimmy" Einhaus, a 19-year-old Oglesby resident who is hoping to make his political debut during this month’s primary elections in his town as he runs for mayor.
Einhaus, a political science major at Illinois Valley Community College, said he’s been interested in politics for as long as he can remember.
"I think the thing that interested me the most is the corruption and how it is so common in government," said Einhaus, who says he leans more toward the liberal side, but hasn’t declared a party. "I want to instill a sense of honesty back into politics."
The lifelong Oglesby resident noticed many people in his town had grown fed up with the local government and decided in November to run for mayor. He will join two other candidates running against current Mayor Jerry Scott, who has served as mayor for 20 years.
"I thought maybe if we got some younger, fresher ideas into the council it would be a positive change," Einhaus said. "I think I have more persistence. I make the drive and go the extra mile."
Einhaus avoided voicing any problems he saw in the current City Council, only saying he knew people were not happy. In fact, he said he’s spoken to Scott, who told Einhaus he was happy to see a young man interested in local government.
"He said he just wished I would have run for commissioner first," Einhaus said. "But I’m sure he would."
It’s been a little harder to gain the support of the public, said the young candidate.
"The reactions have been mixed," Einhaus said. "Most people are skeptical of my age, but I try to make them think age is just a number. Anyone is capable of doing great if you apply yourself. I am more than capable. I can really do a great job."
Einhaus’s best friend and campaign manager, Mike Crouch, 19, of Oglesby said he was not surprised at his friend’s latest aspiration, as he’s been into politics the whole time they have known each other.
"What surprised me was his will to work on what he wants," Crouch said. "I never knew the extent he was willing to work once he put his mind to something."
Crouch, a history education major at IVCC, said the campaign journey has been a learning experience.
He said many people question Einhaus’s lack of experience, but Crouch believes that would actually be a better fit for the city.
"In some areas, we definitely need a fresh view on things," Crouch said.
Einhaus said he’d like to see more budget control from the council.
He said he would like to see more personal involvement from the mayor and commissioners, both in promoting the city and during council meetings.
"I’m willing to go the extra mile," Einhaus said.
He also mentioned he’d like to see the town get a grocery store, adding the town is in dire need.
"Just in general, I want to see the people’s tax dollars go to work," he said.
After finishing at IVCC in a year, Einhaus plans to commute to Northern Illinois University. That way, he could work around a mayoral schedule.
First, though, he has to pass the first hurdle - the upcoming primary.
Much of his campaign approach has been going door-to-door. A pile of freshly printed green signs declaring "Einhaus for Mayor" sit on the young man’s floor at his family’s home. He and Crouch plan on spreading them throughout the town and greeting more residents to explain his vision.
"I think the more challenging thing is convincing people it doesn’t matter how old I am," Einhaus said. "I’m serious about the job and what needs to be done."

Born in Seneca on Sept. 16, 1930, he was a son to Francis Einhaus and Louella Einhaus (Gordon).

Mr. Einhaus was a graduate of Seneca High School, with the Class of 1950, where he played varsity basketball. He followed the team for the rest of his life.

Shortly after high school, on Feb. 14, 1953, he married his sweetheart Patricia Mann of Ottawa. She followed him to Ft. Carson, Colo., where he sergved in the U.S. Army as a sergeant until his honorable discharge.

After leaving the military, Mr. Einhaus went to work for Caterpillar Company. He climbed up through the ranks at Caterpillar, rising from a shop foreman to a factory manager. He traveled extensively for Caterpillar, sharing his manufacturing and computer expertise as far away as Europe and Japan.

Mr. Einhaus was a man’s man who loved work, golf and God.

He loved the game of golf and still had a great swing. Last year, at age 77, while golfing with friends, he was still good enough to get a hole in one at Nettle Creek Country Club.

More important than everything else was his love of God. He practiced Jesus’ commandment to love others as himself. He was a friend who you could go to in times of need.

Mr. Einhaus was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia.

He is survived by his brothers, Dugan Einhaus and Bernie Einhaus, several nieces and nephews, and a close companion and friend, Jan Ruddy. He will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mr. Einhaus’ name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.

Note about the decease of Alec: FREMONT — The lives and dreams and joys of Amanda Lauren Lew, 9, and her half-brother Alec Bernard Einhaus, 7, who were raised together in Fremont, were extinguished a week ago in a deadly accident as they drove with their mother through Nevada on the way to Utah for a family vacation.
Their little bodies lay side-by-side Wednesday while family, teachers and neighbors stood over their seemingly immense coffin, stricken by the children’s early, sudden deaths. "Unfair" was the word echoing through Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels.
"It’s such a great loss — they were just kids," said an aunt.
A photograph of Amanda’s cat, Snow White, stood watch over the Brier Elementary fourth-grader who dreamed of becoming a teacher and who loved fashion, food, ice skating and the color purple.
The brown-haired Alec wore a Cub Scout cap with a Wolf emblem, a scouting distinction he had just earned. The third-grader at Brier Elementary — and SpongeBob SquarePants fan — wanted to become an astronaut in order to save the world from a meteorite.
On Thursday their father, Steve Einhaus, buried Amanda and Alec, the children he woke for school, read to, fed, taught, loved. "After sacrificing so much, they didn’t continue their lives," he said.
Einhaus seemed to gaze into some far-off memory as he pointed to the photographs of his family that lined the chapel’s reception room. "This is my life with them," he said.
Such mementos are such small comfort — they will never hold his hand the way Einhaus said Amanda did after they rode roller-coasters together all day at an amusement park.
Competing with his grief was a leaden anger at their mother, Amy Hong Ma of San Leandro, who crashed the sport utility vehicle in which the three were traveling.
The family sought to keep her name from the children’s obituary, Einhaus said, adding that he had "no idea" where she would be buried. "We don’t want her name mentioned. We are so angry because she is the reason they’re dead."
It appears, from a preliminary Nevada Highway Patrol report attributing the accident to "driver inattention and excessive speed," that as Ma drove Interstate 80 in Nevada at 80 to 100 mph on Aug. 11, the children wore no seat belts. They were thrown from the SUV as it tumbled numerous times, and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Ma and Einhaus were divorced several years ago; Einhaus raised Amanda and Alec alone until he remarried. He had full custody of the children until six months ago.
As Einhaus recalled allowing Ma to take custody of Amanda, he fidgeted with a "Who Am I" poster Amanda made in second grade — "my favorite food: spaghetti, my favorite animal: kitten." Einhaus had second thoughts about the compromise well before Ma and the children set out for Utah and had moved to reverse the decision.
"I try to remember the positive things — they are at peace," he said. "They entered into heaven as good people."
Amanda and Alec were buried at the Olivet Cemetery in Colma next to the grave of Amanda’s biological father, Vincent Lew. "I raised them all these years," Einhaus said. "Vincent will watch over them from now on."

De heer Einhaus was zeer actief binnen de Kerk, o.a. als senioren acoliet. Hij blijft in onze herinnering als een opgewekt persoon en we zijn hem zeer dankbaar voor zijn collegialiteit, betrokkenheid en trouw. Twee weken voor zijn overlijden diende hij nog een uitvaart. Je kon altijd een beroep op Theo doen. Theo, bedankt! We wensen zijn familie veel sterkte bij het dragen van dit zware verlies.

Met spijt, delen wij u mede, dat één van onze oudste vrijwilligers is overleden.

Theo zijn gezondheid was al twee jaar minder, af en toe krabbelde hij weer op, en geloofden wij erin dat hij weer jaren mee kon.
Hij is uiteindelijk overleden in een coma waar hij niet meer uit zou komen.
Hij is in zijn kamer achter de computer, van zijn stoel gevallen, zijn hart, en een beroerte waren hem fataal.
Hij is in vrede begraven op de natuurbegraafplaats van St. Odilienberg, het dorp waar hij en zijn vrouw ook al weer tijden woonden.
Vooraf was er een mooie plechtigheid in de Munster in Roermond waar hij vele dagen diende.

Theo Einhaus, is niet meer.

Theo, kwam iedere keer, helemaal vanuit Limburg, om voor Kidz Active aan een actie mee te werken, zo is hij onze Sinterklaas geweest, twee jaar achter elkaar, wat hij met heel veel plezier en verve deed.
Ook heeft Theo met ons meegelopen met Jantje Beton, en heeft langs de deuren gecollecteerd.
Hij is naar ons Benefietfeest gekomen, en zo zijn er nog wel meer dingen te vertellen, en alle keren maakte hij dan gebruik van de gastvrijheid van zijn goede vriendin Agnes Langen, die in Dordrecht woont, en ook een tijd één van onze vrijwilligers was.

Theo Einhaus is niet meer, wij het volledige Team van Kidz Active, zullen `m missen, en wensen zijn vrouw, familie en vrienden sterkte.
Note about Theo: Op zaterdag 17 juni 2006 heeft senior-acoliet Theo Einhaus in het Belgische Heussent-Zolder van koning Albert van België de onderscheiding van Ridder in de Orde van de Belgische Kroon "voor werken van menslievendheid" ontvangen.
Op 23 september 2006 kreeg Theo nog een orde toegekent. De Imosphinx Academy Belgium Interallied Militairy Organization kende hem de Knight Academy in The Order of Merit toe.
